Muhammad Toaha Raza Khan

Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering · METU Northern Cyprus Campus

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus (METU-NCC). My research concerns networked communication systems and edge intelligence: how resource-constrained devices can sense, communicate and decide reliably when bandwidth, energy and latency are scarce.

My current work spans task-oriented and semantic communication over low-power wide-area networks such as LoRa, 5G/6G Internet of Things and non-terrestrial networks, vehicular communications (V2X), flying ad hoc networks (FANETs), and applied machine learning at the network edge. Earlier work addressed the Internet of Underwater Things, named data networking, and human activity recognition with ambient binary sensor networks.

I received my Ph.D. (combined M.S.) in Computer Science and Engineering from Kyungpook National University, South Korea, in 2022, where I was a graduate research engineer in the Wireless and Mobile Internet Laboratory (MoNet). Before joining the faculty in 2024, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at METU-NCC. I hold a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunication) from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan, where I received the Institute and Campus Gold Medals.
